biography
Born in Manhattan, attended Putney School and Columbia University, graduating with a B.A. degree in English Literature and a minor in Art History. For the next twenty-five years acted on and off Broadway, starred in Hollywood and International films and television series. His credits include “Dallas” for which he originated the role of ‘Dusty Farlow’, “How the West Was Won”, “War of the Worlds”, and “The Fantastic Journey”, in which he played Varian. He starred on Broadway in the Tony award winning “Torch Song Trilogy”. As a writer and photographer his poetry has been anthologized and his photographs exhibited in both group and single shows. Jared is the Co–Founder and Creative Director of Philadelphia’s celebrated youth media center, the Big Picture Alliance. In this capacity he has directed over 30 films; receiving awards from Cine Eagle, Intercom, and the Chicago International Film Festival. He has written the novel “Sand Wasp’, two photo-narratives “Dazhengzhou, a 1000 Year Old Chinese Village” and “Letter From Zibo” and is completing a third 'Caprivi". While acting he began recording events with a camera. He has been exhibited in group shows, and his image “Temple Workers” was awarded the National Association of Photoshop Professionals best Landscape Photograph of 2008. NAPP also selected ‘Man Admiring his House’, and “Approaching Storm” as featured Images of the Week. He uses a Hassleblad CM, Canon Mark II and a Nikon F3. Five years ago began printing his own work and experimenting with mixed media and different surface applications, varnishes and encaustic.
